Overcoming fears

So Somer and Steve introduced us to rock climbing probably 6-8 months ago. Steve had gotten Somer interested and it was their activity together....but they were always looking for people to go with them. After they took us the first time Justin and I realized that we actually liked it a lot. You could say they got us hooked. Justin got a climbing harness then found shoes at the REI garage sale. I was still bumming off Somer and Steve until Christmas when they gave me my own harness I was sooooo excited :) (thanks again guys!). In November the climbing gym we had been going to closed its doors. We went to the other climbing gym in town - triangle rock club and are not immediately impressed. Their routes were totally on top of one another and they were wicked hard. But after we got used to it we have grown to love it. Still when it gets packed it is a bit frustrating at times to get on a wall but we try and make the most out of those days. Climbing for Justin and I has really given us a fun activity to do together...I still haven't convinced him that riding is much fun as i think it is and I'm not as convinced skiing is as fun as he thinks it is. That whole story being said mom has heard about us climbing for a while now and wants to see us in action. She came up Friday and we went to the gym. Justin convinced her that you can't go and not climb so after watching we she put on my harness and shoes and gave it a go...she was a champ!!! She actually enjoyed herself and was very brave with the height. I'm glad we got her in the wall. I am also afraid of heights but learning to trust your body and of course the person belaying you is a great exercise. Here are some pictures of our night.

Surprise laser tag

Usually Justin is really hard to surprise but I got him this year!!! He had told me he wanted to do to Frankie's to play laser tag do his birthday. I told a white lie and said I had only asked Somer and Steve. Well I baked the whole day and made lemon meringue and coffee cupcakes for the group! They were amazing (thank you Pinterest!!!)When we go to Frankie's Justin was surprised to see a big group of our friends. I was so excited I pulled it off because he will guess any present you get him before he opens it...and he's always right . It's so aggravating!! But here are some pictures of our fun night!!
The game with the buttons and lights was crazy...it was man against man and whoever could turn their lights of he fastest won! So much fun! Thanks everyone for making it such a success:)

Hunter safety course

So last week Justin and I completed the NC hunter safety course. We want to go turkey hunting with my dad this season so in order to get our license to hunt we had to complete a hunter safety course. In NC you have two options either go to a 12 hour class or compete the course online and do a field day where you take the exam and practice shooting a gun to show you are proficient in gun safety. Just because of time constraints the classroom class fit into our schedules. It was a class that 5:30 to 9:30 Monday Tuesday and Wednesday evening. The course consisted of going through a series of power points, and at the end we took a test to ensure we had learned the material....Justin scored two points better than me!!! (He got a 98...) so he is going to be a better hunter than me!!! Can't wait till April...keep on the lookout for hunting season posts!!!

Bonfires and birthdays

So last weekend we went down to Cherryville for Justin's best friend Curt's birthday. After dropping Roxy off with her favorite grandma we drove down. We spent the evening catching up and then the next morning started with an awesome birthday breakfast.....bojo's of course!!! Then we cheered on NC state and waited for the awesome BBQ to arrive. One of Curt's work buddies has a smoker and he did two Boston butts and one half of a pig. It was some of the best BBQ I have ever had. We ate then sat by the bonfire and played corn hole it was perfect!! So glad we got to go down and celebrate with Curt! The next birthday we have is Justin's it's right around the corner!!!

Girls night out

Last weekend we celebrated Britts bachlorette Bash in Washington, D.C. It was a blast! Everyone left Friday after work and once we got up there we started the party with a good old round of circle of death.

Yes that is Kristin joining in on the fun of the game. She wasn't able to join us because she recently had knee surgery so we wanted to include her in the festivities. The next morning everyone got up and split up doing different events. Our group Somer, Britt, Ang and I went to the zoo. It was cold but we had a blast. After that we had a wonderful sushi lunch.
