Emergency phone

So I have found out the most important lesson an on-call vet will ever learn....never say 'dang the phone has been quiet'....and don't start a movie/cook dinner/make plans with a friend if you don't want to be interrupted.
I will say I have loved learning from the calls I have gotten and it has been relatively quiet (shhh I didn't say that!!) Justin is great and really understanding because he grew up with his dad being on call. I'm lucky to have someone so understanding to spend the rest of my life with because there will be many dinners, movies, and parties I will have to walk out on. I also have great friends who offer to meet on my side of town or just stay really flexible when I have to go into work after we had only been hanging out for 15 minutes.
I will say I would never pick another job for myself and I live being there for people whenever they need me!

Work life

I have now been employed for a month. I can't believe the time has flown by so quickly. I have settled in nicely- I will say though I am exhausted by the time I get home. During this short month I have learned so much! Christie who was the intern before me was amazing and set up a wonderful notebook to get me adequately orientated. She left after I wasworking  for a week. I'm going to miss her a lot. Before she left we had to have NC state ice cream!
I hope that I can fill the big shoes that these girls have left for me! They were great house officers!!!! I'm going to miss you both!

So far I love my job and can't wait to see how the rest of the year goes!

We're Engaged

So I have slacked on blogging since we got back from Europe. A good bit has happened since then! We actually got engaged in Venice but kept it a secret until we made it back to the states!  Justin found the perfect spot! We got a painting from my parents for Christmas done by Ron Morecraft http://www.ronmorecraftstudio.com/p850747999/h4c904492#h4c904492 of a canal in Venice.  Justin immediately looked up the canal because he knew we would be going there for my graduation weekend and he found it by surfing around google earth!  Little did I know a few weeks later he bought a ring and planned on proposing there.  Everyone kept a great secret because no one said a word!  He traveled to Italy with the ring in his backpack and then walked all day around Venice with it in his pocket. We had a little trouble finding the actual canal but with the help of Roxy (who speaks fluent Italian) and some awesome gondolier drivers we found it! He got too nervous the first time at the bridge but then wanted to go back "for a few more pictures." We did and he asked- it was perfect! We then got to go surprise all of my family in Germany with the ring and our plans to get married. That made it so much sweeter.  Coming back to the states was a whirlwind because we called friends but we wanted to tell Justin's grandparents in person who we wouldn't see until the weekend- more secrets and surprises!  Everyone is thrilled and we are very excited. We are currently full into the wedding planning and I will keep you all updated better in the next few weeks!
