Vet School Prom

The annual event had finally arrived.  Justin and I will have gone to 3 of these while we have been together and it was only fitting we went to my last one.  It was a fun afternoon - we all headed over to Amanda's house to watch State play Carolina and then get ready together afterwards. I don't have many chances to get ready with other girls so I looked forward to getting all pretty with my vet school faves!  The event was held downtown and was fun, other venues had been more fun, but we still had a good time socializing with our friends. After the dance was over we headed to Raleigh Times to meet up with outside-of-vetschool friends to celebrate Caroline's birthday.  It is always a great cap to the night sharing beers with your awesome friends. Here are some pictures from the night:
This is our whole class that was able to make it to the Ball.
Yay!!!!! We are almost done with school!!!!!!!!!!!

Our animals wait on us...

So I recently saw a pin on Pinterest that got me thinking... It said that our animals spend over half their lives waiting on their owners- how's that for lotalty?...I realized that was very accurate. It shows how loyal our animals are and made me appreciate coming home to mine a little more.
Yesterday was a sad day out at the hospital and I decided it was time to go visit my horse! Star has been my buddy since I was a freshman in high school...that is 12 years now!!!! He is always there for me and I always leave the barn feeling better when I see him. I am so grateful for my parents for buying my first pony and getting me started in the equine world. I have had such a good time with Star and all the other greats that cane before him. I realized our horses waits for us too...i guess i never thought about that. So everyone get out there today and love on your critters because remember they do spend a good bit of heir life waiting till they get to see you again!

My beautiful Roxy

The best dog ever Buster who I grew up with.

My man...the bond between girl and horse is unbeatable.

Oh Petrie.... The cat that keeps life interesting...but we love her.

My beautiful Sofee she was my first own house pet and stayed by my side every minute I studied for vet school tests.

Books for fun

So after passing NAVLE I have actually had time to read....I thought I would share my recent titles :)

Nora Roberts - The Bride Quartet series
This is about 4 friends who start a wedding planning business. Each book focuses on the love life of one of the girls and ultimately how she finds her husband. I always thought that Nora Roberts would be too cheesy for me but I really enjoyed them all.

Cassandra Clare The Mortal Instrument series
This is a 5 book series....soooo good. It is about people called shadow hunters who kill Demons. Also werewolves and vampires make an appearance. The first book hooks you but it gets progressively darker and feels more "grown up". Love the series!!!
She has another series about shadow hunters in the 1600's this will be read soon!!

Now I am currently reading the first book in the beautiful creatures series. Starts off slow and slightly twilight-y but it gets much better as the book goes on. I got a special of the next 3 books on amazon and I will be reading the whole series :)

That is all for now. As I read more I will share my mini book reviews :)

Schneeeeeeee

This weekend has been a great break. It started off great with a bowling night with Somer and Steve. We even played a round of girls vs boys....and guess what??? The girls won!!!! Pretty awesome. Today I got up to a dreary morning to take care of my patient in the hospital, by the time I got home it was raining. Then in the matter of 5 minutes I looked outside and it was a BLIZZARD. Leave it to NC to have a 63 degree day the day before it snows.  I haven't seen snow yet here this season, all other times it snowed I was out of the state on externships. So needless to say I was really excited. Laurie and I planned on going to the Homeshow downtown for some networking and girl time. The weather was definitely not enough to stop us!  The show was really interesting and I will keep those in mind when I own a bigger home and have need for renovations. We took a break from the show to have brunch, Laurie had never eaten at Beasleys so I had to take her. We both had the Reunion and it was AWESOME as always.  It was a great day and I loved seeing Laurie - she has always been my breath of fresh air during my hectic schedule. While I was out on my girls date Justin was busy at the climbing gym - he finally made it up one of the runs that was giving him trouble - The pony trickster!

I decided it was a perfect day to change into comfy clothes turn on the fire have a hot cup of tea and start a movie.  The Help was my movie of choice today, I had read the book a while back and really enjoyed it but never got around to watching the movie.  Really good choice!
During days like today I have some time to sit down and think....(yes scary I know)...but I am really thankful for all of the friends in my life.  I am very lucky to have such wonderful people around me my family, Justin, and my wonderful friends- thank you all for always being there. I would have never made it through vet school without your love and support. I hope that I am able to return the support and love you all give me.

Now onward away from the mushy gushy and here are some fun snow pictures from the day :) Love you all.

I love girls day with her :)

Ummm.....what is this white stuff coming from the sky???? (she didn't like it much- not impressed)

Roxy loves the snow :)

Crafty.....underwear??

On Wednesday I got together with Alex and Kristin for some craft time. Britt's bachelorette party is quickly approaching and we made invites :) A fun idea to incorporate into the party is a lingerie shower. A bride always loves that as a gift for their honeymoon!!! So I found a cute idea to let people know the bride's sizes. I have done it before for my best friend Laurie's bachelorette party and I got many compliments so I thought I would do them again! They are fun to make and really dress up an invite! It was a fun night of crafting and I hope everyone enjoys the invitations.
